Getting Started
PleaseCheckOnMe is a wellness check-in service designed for people who live alone or may go extended periods without contact. We send you scheduled SMS check-ins, and if you don't respond after configured retries, we automatically notify your designated Trusted Contacts so they can check on you.
Simply click "Get Started" or "Start Your Free Trial" to create an account. You provide your email, phone number, and verify your phone via SMS. Once verified, you can set up your check-in schedule and add your trusted contacts.
Yes! We offer a 30-day free trial so you can experience the full service before committing. A card is collected at signup and billing starts after the trial unless you cancel first.
PleaseCheckOnMe works with any phone that can receive and send SMS text messages. You can manage your account from any device with a web browser. We support phones in the United States and Canada.
Yes — that's one of the most common ways people use it. You can add yourself as the subscriber, using your own phone number, and name the people you'd want contacted if you didn't respond. The account holder and the person being checked on are often the same person.
Each person receiving check-ins needs their own phone number — a number can only be registered to one subscriber across the whole service, so two people can't be checked on at the same number, even from different accounts. The contact number on your account is separate and doesn't have to be unique, so it's fine for it to match the number of someone you're checking on.
Check-Ins
At your scheduled check-in time, you'll receive an SMS message. Simply reply with "OK", "YES", or "Y" to confirm you're doing well. You can also tap the confirmation link in the message. That's it!
If you don't respond to the initial check-in, we'll send retry attempts based on your configured settings (0-5 retries). If you still don't respond after all retries, we automatically notify all contacts in your designated contact group via SMS.
Yes, you can schedule up to 2 check-ins per day. This is useful if you want both a morning and evening check-in.
Open that subscriber's page and pause their check-ins for the period you'll be away. This is perfect for vacations, hospital stays, or any time you know you'll be unavailable. Your Trusted Contacts won't be notified while check-ins are paused.
It means the subscriber, or a Trusted Contact in the group that schedule uses, hasn't confirmed yet. Nothing is lost — the schedule is saved and starts by itself as soon as the missing confirmation arrives, and we email you when it does. If someone never received their confirmation request, you can send it again from the subscriber's page or the Trusted Contact's entry.
Only they can. Replying STOP stops every text we would send that number, and the person who sent it has to text START to the same number to start them again. We can't turn it back on for them, and neither can you — that's a requirement of the rules carriers place on text messaging, not a limitation of our app. CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, STOPALL, REVOKE and OPTOUT all count as STOP, so someone replying "cancel" to a check-in has stopped every text, not just that one. If a subscriber or Trusted Contact stops getting messages unexpectedly, this is the first thing worth checking.
Absolutely! You can modify your check-in schedule anytime through your dashboard. Changes take effect immediately.
Trusted Contacts & Notifications
A Trusted Contact is someone you designate to be notified if you miss a check-in. This could be a family member, friend, neighbor, or anyone you trust to check on your wellbeing.
You can create up to 5 contact groups, with 1-5 contacts per group. This allows you to organize different Trusted Contacts for different situations or schedules.
Yes, for privacy and consent reasons, all Trusted Contacts must opt-in via SMS before they can receive notifications. When you add a Trusted Contact, they'll receive a text asking them to confirm they agree to be a contact.
No. Trusted Contacts don't sign up for anything and don't install anything — they confirm by text once, and after that they're simply texted if a check-in is missed. There's nothing for them to set up and nothing for them to remember.
Trusted Contacts receive an SMS letting them know you haven't responded to your check-in and asking them to reach out. It includes your name so they know who to check on. For example: "ALERT from PleaseCheckOnMe: John has missed their check-in and did not respond. Please reach out to make sure they're okay."
Billing & Plans
Our Individual Plan is $8/month or $88/year (save $8). Our Group Plan is $6/month per person or $66/year per person, requiring a minimum of 2 subscribers.
Billing is per phone number receiving check-ins. You're charged monthly or yearly based on your chosen plan after your free trial ends.
Yes! You can cancel your subscription at any time with no cancellation fees. Your service will continue until the end of your current billing period.
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) through our secure payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your card details on our servers.
The Group Plan is designed for 2 or more subscribers. It offers a discounted rate, a shared group dashboard, centralized billing, and the ability to add or remove members anytime.
Privacy & Security
Yes, we take security seriously. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use industry-standard security practices and never sell your personal information to third parties.
We collect only what's necessary to provide the service: your name, email, phone number, check-in schedule, and Trusted Contact information. We also log check-in responses to your activity dashboard.
Yes. You can request deletion at any time from Account Settings, and you can cancel the request while it is still pending. When the deletion runs we permanently remove your account, your sign-in, your subscribers, your Trusted Contacts and your check-in history — it cannot be undone. We keep an administrative record that the deletion happened, which includes the email address it applied to, so we can show the request was honored.
A member of our support team may need to view your account the way you see it when you ask us for help. That access is read-only by default, lasts only as long as it takes to help you, and is recorded. If fixing your problem means changing something, we ask your permission first — by email, or with a code we read out to you — and we email you afterwards describing what changed. Support can never see your payment details, and can never change your password, email address or phone number, or delete your account.
